New to Yoga?

Everything you need to know to have a great experience

Let us start by saying we're grateful to have you, and we're excited about your new adventure with us.

Here's what you should know before you arrive.

  1. Arrive 15 Minutes Early
Arriving early allows you to settle in, center yourself, and prepare for your practice. Unroll your mat quietly so as not to disturb others who may already be practicing. Use this time to check-in with yourself, release outside thoughts, and gently warm up your body.

  2. Turn Off Your Cell Phones
For the benefit of everyone, we kindly ask that you turn off your cell phone or leave it in the cubby provided. If you’re concerned about valuables, please know that the studio door is locked during sessions for added security and there is a locking key valet in the back of the studio. We do ask that phones be placed on silent to minimize distractions, as sounds can often be heard even through the door.

  3. Remove Your Shoes
At Unwind, we kindly ask that you leave your shoes in the designated cubbies in the lobby before entering the studio. This is where you can store your personal belongings. We also recommend removing your socks to fully embrace the experience.

  4. Wash your Feet
At Unwind, we prioritize cleanliness and a welcoming environment for everyone. To maintain a fresh and hygienic space, we kindly ask all clients to wash their feet in our designated foot basins before entering the studio. These basins contain water infused with essential oils, offering a soothing and refreshing experience. Please take a moment to give your feet a good scrub, ensuring they are clean and free from any dirt or oils. This small act helps keep the studio pristine for all guests, creating a space where everyone can fully relax and enjoy their session.

  5. Respect the Teacher’s Sequencing
Please allow the teacher to guide you through the sequence of poses. If you have any injuries or conditions (such as pregnancy) that may affect your practice, let your instructor know, and they will provide modifications tailored to your needs.

  6. Don’t Try to Impress Anyone
Yoga is not a competition. Each day is an opportunity for self-growth, and your practice will evolve naturally. Acknowledge your progress privately and avoid seeking validation for your efforts. It’s about
the journey and letting go of the need for recognition.

  7. Don’t Skip Savasana
Savasana, also known as Corpse Pose, is a vital part of your yoga practice. This final relaxation period allows your body to fully absorb the benefits of your practice. If you absolutely must leave early, please inform your instructor beforehand, and do so quietly before Savasana begins. Please ensure you have enough time to collect your belongings before departing. If you choose not to participate in Savasana, kindly refrain from conversations until after class to maintain the peaceful
    atmosphere for fellow yogis.

  8. Mat Cleaning After Your Session
To ensure a clean and refreshing space for everyone, we ask you thoroughly clean your mat after each session. We provide deionized water-soaked towels in the clear acrylic bins—this special water
attracts dirt, oil, and lotions, making it highly effective for deep cleaning. Please take a moment to give your mat a good scrub, using some elbow grease to remove all traces of your practice. This way, the person after you can step onto a fresh mat, practicing with just themselves. Your care and effort help maintain a clean and welcoming studio for all.

  9. Put Your Props Away After Class
If you have used props such as blocks, straps, or blankets, please return them neatly to their original place. Fold your blanket carefully, and if you borrow a mat from the studio, kindly wipe it down thoroughly (towels must be completely soaked, as our mats absorbs lots of liquid) with the provided deionized water before returning it to the rack. This helps maintain the space for everyone.

  10. Personal Items
At Unwind, we provide cubbies for your personal items. Please consider leaving valuables in the cubbies for added security. If you choose to leave items in your car, such as your phone or purse, please be aware that the studio is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. We also recommend leaving large personal items outside the main studio to ensure there’s ample space for everyone.

  11. Respect the Space
Yoga is a practice that cultivates peace and respect for both yourself and others. Please maintain silence before, during, and after class to create a serene environment for everyone. Be mindful of
others by refraining from unnecessary talking. Kindly refrain from adjusting the lights, fans, windows, or thermostat without permission.

  12. Honor Yourself
For your own safety and the consideration of others, please choose classes that align with your current level of practice. Work from where you are, not where you think you should be. Never force yourself into a pose or hold a position beyond your capability. If you need  modifications, please ask. Remember, yoga is a practice, not a race, and it’s about progress, not perfection.

  13. Don’t Forget Your Valuables
Before leaving, ensure that your account is current and that all personal items, such as cell phones, water bottles, or clothing, are with you. Any items left behind will be placed in the Lost and Found for one month, after which they will be donated or disposed of to free up space.

  14. Check Your Ego at the Door
Yoga is not about showing off or competing with others. It’s a space for personal growth and inner peace. Please leave any desire to impress or outperform behind, as this practice is for your own well-being. Yoga is about connecting with yourself, not with anyone else’s expectations.

That's it. You're ready to rock it!

Have Fun.

We look forward to seeing you
